These are some of the classes I have taught and some of the classes I am currently developing.
Costuming:
Introduction to Clothing Design
This class provides basic information for clothing design. Brief overview os fabric/trim selection including fiber content/color.  Choosing your clothing time period, place and class. Determining appropirate undergarments and accessories. Finding sources. Organizing your fabric stash to minimize late-night, pre-event scrambling. A detailed booklist and online resources are included in the handout. (1 hour)
Ottoman Turkish Costuming in the 16th C.
This class covers the elegant and bright garments that comprise an Ottoman Turkish ensemble for both men and women: kaftan (outer coat), entari (inner coat), gomlek (shirt), salwar (pants), boots, headwear and other accessories. (2 hours)
Authenticity in Historical Costume, a six-class series (in work)
The purpose of this multi-purpose class series is to emphasize using a more authentic approach to costuming than is generally in use. Each class in the series shall be independent and no pre-requisites shall be required. The beauty of this system, is that it can be applied to nearly any location and time-period. Class series currently in work are Medieval Europe, Renaissance Europe and The Near East.
Authenticity in Historical Costume I: Research
This class covers the essentials for researching and documenting clothing in a particular time and place. This includes finding sources via the web, library and contemporary art. Tracking research including note taking, note compilation, and reference lists. Documentation will also be covered including headings/subheadings, creating a cohesive document and bibliographies. No pre-requisites. (1 hour)

Authenticity in Historical Costume II: Textiles
This class covers textiles for historical costumes available in a particular time and place. This includes a fiber/location timeline, fiber types, weaves, colors and patterns.  No pre-requisites. (1 hour)

Authenticity in Historical Costume III: Construction Techniques
This class covers clothing constructon for historical costumes given a particular time and place. This includes seams, lining, interlining, stitches, eyelets/buttonholes, and finishing  No pre-requisites. (1 hour)
Authenticity in Historical Costume IV: Design/ Developing a Pattern
This class covers clothing design for historical costumes given a particular time and place. This includes developing patterns from your historical research.  No pre-requisites. (1 hour)
Authenticity in Historical Costume V: Embellishment
This class covers clothing embellishmentfor historical costumes given a particular time and place. This includes trim placement and trim types: fur, woven trim, embroidery, and closures. No pre-requisites. (1 hour)
Authenticity in Historical Costume VI: Accessories
This class covers accessories for historical costumes given a particular time and place. This includes headwear, footwear, bags/pouches, belts and jewelry.  No pre-requisites. (1 hour)
Textiles:
Recreating Period Buttons I
This is a hands on class where we will make buttons to match nearly any ensemble. This class covers fabric buttons, thread-wrapped buttons, and thread-woven buttons. (1 hour)
Recreating Period Buttons II (in work)
This is a continuation of Recreating Period Buttons I.. This class covers thread buttons and buttons using a "button jig".(1 hour)
Research:
Secret Writing: the Development and Methods of Early and Renaissance Ciphers
Discusses different types of ciphers including the Caesar cipher, Alberti discus, Trimethius Cipher Table, and the Vigenere cipher. (1 hour.)
