Canvaswork: |
Canvaswork (later known as needlepoint) typically uses a linen canvas decorated with various stitches in wool or silk floss. Metallic threads were also used to embellish and highlight the design. There are several examples of extant canvaswork in the Victoria and Albert Museum. |

Kingdom Kneeling Pillow Project--College of Brymstonne Arms (completed March 2005) |
This was my first canvaswork project. This is one of many heraldic appliques a large talented group of atisans worked on for the Atenveldt Kingdom Kneeling Pillow Project. I used Golbein stitches for the red and black field, satin stitch for the laurel leaves and stem stitch for Cerberus and the laurel branches. I used a 100% linen evenweave ground, but (alas!) DMC cotton embroidery floss. |

This was my gift to the following Arts and Sciences Champion, Lady Aurelia Chrysanthia Dalassne. It is the populace badge of Atenveldt. Linen ground and silk floss. |

French Veil c. 1505 (completed July 2006) |
This was my first metal thread project and one of my Kingdom A&S entries. The Japan thread is laid and couched with silk thread. I used gold silk on the gold Japan thread and silver silk on the silver Japan thread. The ground is cotton velveteen lined with evenweave silk. The beads are real pearls and jade. Below is a close-up of the repeating motif. |
